The MIDI keyboard does not play

Check that MIDI arrives, that the device is on and that the channel listens to the right device and MIDI channel.

  1. Play a key and look at the MIDI icon at the top: the dot in its corner blinks when MIDI arrives. If it does not blink, REDKEYS is receiving nothing — go to step 2. If it blinks, skip to step 3.
  2. Tap the MIDI icon and open DEVICES: your keyboard must be on. A device turned off there stays off, even after closing and opening the app.
  3. On the channel, tap Edit and open the MIDI tab. Under Device, the channel must listen to All devices or your keyboard. A chosen device that is not connected shows as not connected.
  4. Under Channel, the channel’s MIDI channel (Omni or 1 to 16) must be the one your keyboard sends. The quickest way: tap Learn and play a note on the keyboard. The channel then listens to that device and that MIDI channel.
  5. MUTE lit on the channel? Mute blocks your keyboard’s MIDI on that channel. Turn it off.
  6. Is the sound Off here in this part? It takes no notes from outside. See Plays here and Off here.
