Start with the Drone (Drone first)

Make Play start the Drone and wait, looping one bar, until you call the first part.

In Drone first mode, Play does not start the song: it starts the Drone and keeps one bar looping. You talk, pray or wait for the band; when you call a part, it comes in on the head of the next bar, with no count-in.

Turn the mode on

  1. Tap the REDKEYS logo to open Settings.
  2. In Play, on the When you press Play row, choose Drone first (the other mode is Start the song).

How it works on stage

  • The parts bar shows the Drone step first, from the moment you enter the song. Once the first part starts, it leaves the bar; it comes back on Stop and in the next song.
  • Play takes the song to its first part before starting the Drone.
  • The metronome plays during the Drone loop, as set in Settings › Click › Plays.
  • DrumPad loops play normally in Drone first.
  • The mode holds for every song that comes in: at the end of a song with a backing track or multitrack, the next one waits on its Drone until you call a part.

Hand over to the next song

While a song plays, picking another one in the setlist does not play it right away: it becomes the next song and the Play button at the top turns yellow. Tap the yellow Play (or the Drone step in the parts bar) and the current song hands over on the head of the next bar: the chosen one enters on its Drone loop. Tap again to cancel.
