Gate, Swing, Human and Velocity
Set how long each note lasts, the swing and the strength of the notes, in both modes.
These settings sit in the second row of the page. They apply to every note, in Arp and Step Seq mode.
| Setting | Range | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Gate | 5 to 150 % | Shortens or lengthens every note. Above 100 %, they overlap (legato). |
| Swing | 50 to 75 % | Delays every other step. At 50 % the rhythm is straight. It does nothing with a triplet Rate. |
| Human | ±0 to ±30 | Varies the strength of each note a little, at random. |
| Velocity | Grid, Played or Fixed | Where the strength of the notes comes from. |
Gate and the Length lane
Gate works on top of each step's length, the one in the grid's Length lane. A step with a Length of 50 % and a Gate of 50 % lasts a quarter of the step.
Velocity
- Grid: each step's strength, drawn in the grid's Velocity lane.
- Played: how hard you played each key.
- Fixed: a single value, from 1 to 127, on the knob that appears next to it.
Human applies to all three strength sources.
