Mute: silence a channel’s input
Understand what MUTE blocks, what keeps playing and why no note gets stuck.
Each channel’s MUTE blocks what comes from your keyboard, not the audio. While it is lit, the channel receives no notes and no controls from the keyboard, controllers, pedals or the on-screen keyboard. To choose which keyboard and MIDI channel the channel listens to, see Which keyboard plays each channel.
How to use it
- Tap MUTE, under the channel’s fader. It lights up.
- Tap again to release it.
While a channel is muted, its coloured bar above the on-screen keyboard is striped and the splits window shows Muted.
What happens when you turn it on and off
- When you mute, the notes that were sounding end in their own release and the sustain pedal is released. Nothing gets stuck.
- When you unmute, only the next notes sound. If your foot is on the pedal at that moment, the channel starts with the pedal down.
DrumPads sequences keep playing
The sequences the DrumPads trigger pass through Mute: they always play their target channel. So a muted channel is ready to play only what comes from the pads (DrumPads).
