Limiter
Protect your sound: no peak goes past the ceiling you choose.
The Limiter makes sure nothing goes past the Ceiling. It is clean, with no colour or deliberate distortion, and it treats both sides together so the stereo image does not shift. It has no Dry/Wet: limiting only half would let the peak through. It is not placed on the Master for you; put it in a slot if you want it.
| Control | What it does | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Gain | The gain before limiting, with the input meter | −12 to +24 dB |
| Ceiling | The highest level that comes out, with the output meter | −12 to 0 dB (starts at −0.5) |
| Release | How long the reduction holds after the signal falls below the ceiling | 1 to 1000 ms |
| Lookahead | Anticipation: shorter limits more but can distort the bass; longer catches faster peaks and adds more delay | 1.5, 3 or 6 ms |
| On | On and off | — |
Between the two faders, the GR bar shows how much it is reducing. The display shows the curve: Gain adds, Ceiling cuts.
