What belongs to the song and what belongs to the part

Understand what changes from part to part, what belongs to the whole song and what follows you through the show.

The rule is simple: content belongs to the song; settings belong to the part. The song loads its sounds once; the parts only turn them on, off and adjust them. That is why a part change loads nothing and never cuts the sound.

The song’s (the same in every part)

  • The sounds of each channel and their layers (up to 8 per channel).
  • Each channel’s effect chain.
  • The macros (names and targets) and the wheels’ targets.
  • The DrumPads kit.
  • The VS or multitrack, with its tracks and markers.
  • The key, tempo and time signature.

The part’s (what it keeps with Store)

  • Which layers play (Plays here / Off here), with key range, velocity and octave.
  • The sound settings, and the effect and macro values.
  • The mix: level, pan and Mute of each channel.
  • The key (Play in), the Drone, the Drums bus and the loops, the track levels and the buses.

The details of each group are in Store what you changed in a part.

The setlist’s

The channels (how many, name, colour, order and output) and the buses with the Master belong to the setlist: the same in every song.

Yours, following you

  • The KEY you chose on the stage stays from part to part and from song to song until you change it.
  • Turning the Drone on or off is always yours, never the song’s.
  • The octave and transpose on the MIDI screen stay on the device.

Leaving a song and coming back

While the setlist is open, going back to a song brings it back as you left it: the sounds with their settings, the effects, the mix, the Drone, the kit and the tracks. Save writes all of it to the setlist.

I changed the volume mid-verse and did not store it. What happens in the chorus?

The volume stays as you left it, unless the chorus keeps the Mix group: then the chorus’s stored volume comes in.

Can I swap channel 1’s piano for another sound in the chorus only?

Yes: add a layer with the other sound and, in the chorus, set the piano to Off here and the other to Plays here. Keep it with Store.

Why did a new part change nothing when I entered it?

A new part keeps nothing. Change what you need and tap Store so it starts keeping it.
