Velocity and sustain pedal
Set how much of your touch reaches the sound on each channel and understand how the sustain pedal works.
Channel Velocity and Curve
In the channel detail, MIDI tab, under Velocity, there are two knobs:
| Knob | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Velocity | How much of your touch reaches the volume, 0 to 100 %. At 0, every key sounds as if played at full force. | 100 % |
| Curve | Bends the touch before anything else, −100 to +100. Upward, the soft touch rises; downward, only the hard touch gets through. | 0 (straight) |
Curve acts before each sound's velocity range, so it also changes which layer plays. Both knobs can be mapped and put on macros.
The sustain pedal
- The pedal is on/off: from value 64 up it is down.
- Repedal: if you lift and press the pedal quickly while a note is still sounding in its release, it is held again from the level it was at, as on a piano.
- When the pedal is down on a channel, its MIDI tab shows Sustain pedal: down on this channel.
- The pedal follows the same filter as the notes (device and MIDI channel). To keep a channel off the pedal, turn off Sustain under Receives.
