The piano roll
Write, record and quantize a sequence's notes, with the grid and loop area you want.
The piano roll opens from a Sequence pad's Edit notes ›. With the kit as destination, the rows are the audio pads; with a channel as destination, they are the keys, A0 to C8, in piano colors.

Write notes
- Tap an empty spot to create a note on the grid; dragging right away stretches it.
- Drag a note to move it (time and pitch); drag its right edge to change its length.
- Tap the selected note again, or press Delete or Backspace, to delete it.
- In the Velocity lane at the bottom, drag the stem to change the force (1 to 127). New notes start at 90.
The grid
The Grid button shows the current grid (for example Grid 1/16) and opens the panel:
| Row | Options |
|---|---|
| Grid | 1/1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32. |
| Feel | Straight; Triplet (three in the space of two); Dotted (one and a half of the value). |
| Record | Free: Rec keeps the timing you play. On the grid: Rec puts each note on the grid. |
| Quantize | Moves the chosen note (or all of them, if none is chosen) onto the grid. The length stays. |
Record from the keyboard
- Tap ● Rec. If the song was playing, it stops: the loop plays alone, with the editor's own click.
- Play the on-screen keyboard or your controller. While Rec is on, the loop runs without playing the notes already recorded: it only records.
- Tap ● Rec again. The loop restarts from the top playing everything you recorded.
The loop area
On the ruler at the top, the loop brace marks the stretch that plays. Drag an end to stretch or shorten it, or the middle to move it; it snaps to the chosen grid. What lies outside is darkened and does not play.
- A note that starts before the area and ends after it sounds once and stays held while the loop runs.
- A note that starts before the area and ends inside it does not play.
- A note that starts inside and runs past the end plays in full.
View and go back
−, + and Fit control the zoom; Follow makes the view walk with the song. To leave, tap Back to the pad.
