Dry/Wet: the effect mix
Understand how Dry/Wet blends the original sound with the effect and how it behaves when parts change.
Dry/Wet sets how much of the original sound (dry) and how much of the effect (wet) you hear. It belongs to the slot: it is on the effect's row in the drawer and on the effect's page (some faces call it MIX).
| Value | What you hear |
|---|---|
| 0 | Only the original sound |
| Below 50 | The whole original sound and less effect |
| 50 | Both in full: the original sound and the effect |
| Above 50 | The whole effect and less original sound |
| 100 | Only the effect |
The readout runs from 0 to 100 %, and you type the same number (30 or 30 %).
Where it starts
- Every audio effect enters the slot at 50.
- The Compressor enters at 100: that way it changes nothing until it starts compressing. Turning Dry/Wet to the left gives parallel compression.
- The EQ and the Limiter have no Dry/Wet: they always process the whole sound.
- On the RV-240, the Dry and Wet keys take Dry/Wet straight to 0 or 100.
Changing parts without cutting the tail
On the RV-240, RedSky, RKV-90, RK-Ambience and Delay, Dry/Wet sets how much goes into the effect. If the next part asks for less reverb or less delay, less new sound goes in, and the tail already ringing dies away in its own time. If it asks for more, the space grows with the new notes.
