Auto-Pan
Make the sound move from side to side or pulse as a tremolo, free or in the song's tempo.
The Auto-Pan has two modes, in the selector at the top: Panning, the sound moving from side to side, and Tremolo, the level pulsing. An LFO drives both.
The rhythm
- Waveform: the shape of the movement, one of 9: Sine, Triangle, Shark Tooth, Saw Up, Saw Down, Square, Random, Wander and S&H.
- Time mode: Rate (in Hz, from 0.1 to 60), Time (in ms or s), Synced, Triplet, Dotted (in bar divisions, from 8 bars to 1/64) or 16th (in sixteenths, from 1 to 64). The last four follow the song's tempo.
The controls
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| On | On and off |
| Amount | How much the LFO moves |
| Phase / Spin (Panning) | Phase: the offset between the left and right LFOs, in degrees. Spin: the two sides at different rates. Dimmed in Tremolo, which has one LFO |
| Offset | Where each cycle starts against the beat (in the tempo modes and on the random waves) |
| Shape | In Panning, pushes the wave to the edges: the switch between sides gets sharper. In Tremolo, up rounds the peaks, down sharpens them |
| Attack | After a strong attack, how long the modulation takes to reach its full amount, up to 5 s |
| Freq Mod | How much the incoming level moves the LFO speed: + faster, − slower |
| Invert | Flips the LFO upside down |
| Harmonic | Lows and highs modulated in turns, split at 600 Hz |
| Vintage | The LFO also drives a non-linear curve: warmth and grit |
| Dry/Wet | The slot's mix |
