Controllers: the controller follows the screen
Teach REDKEYS your controller's faders, knobs and buttons once, and they move whatever is on screen.
On the CONTROLLERS tab of the MIDI screen you describe your controller once, control by control. Then the same fader moves the channel, the bus or the stem, depending on the screen that is open.
Create a controller
- On the CONTROLLERS tab, tap + New. The app is already waiting for fader 1.
- Move each control on the device in the drawing's order: once one is learned, it moves on to the next in the group.
- Choose the device on the Device ▾ button.
- On the Transport page, teach the transport buttons.
The Mixer page draws 8 strips (Macro, Pan, fader and Mute) and the Master fader. For the chosen control you see what it moves on each screen, its source, Learn and ×, the RANGE in the target's unit (for example, a fader that never goes past 0 dB) and Invert.
What each control moves
| Screen open | Faders 1–8 | Pans | Mutes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Channels | Channel volume | Channel pan | Channel mute |
| Master | Bus and Master volume | Bus pan | Bus and Master mute |
| Playback | Stem volume | — | Stem mute |
- With the macro panel open, the Macro knobs move the 8 macros of the channel in focus.
- With the Tonewheel Organ page in view, faders 1–8 and the Master fader become that organ's 9 drawbars.
- What is not in view does not change. Switching screens lets go of the control until it passes the value (the MAPPINGS tab mode).
- A mapping made in MAP CONTROLS on the same control takes precedence.
