Sample rate, buffer and latency

Pick the rate and buffer from those your interface offers and find the lowest latency without clicks.

In the same device panel (Settings › Devices › Audio interface › Open), below the list, are the sample rate and the buffer. REDKEYS shows only what the interface's driver lists: no invented values, no minimum or maximum of the app's own.

SectionWhat it shows
SAMPLE RATEThe rates the driver offers, the current one marked and the resolution it reports (for example 48 kHz · 24 bit).
BUFFERThe sizes the driver offers, the current one marked and the latency in milliseconds (input + buffer + output).

Latency in practice

  1. Start with a small buffer: less delay between the key and the sound.
  2. Play with the show loaded (sounds, pads, playback).
  3. Hear clicks? Raise the buffer one step and test again.

On interfaces that separate input and output, INPUT DEVICE also appears (with None), and under INPUTS you choose up to 2 of the interface's inputs.
