Outputs and buses
Send each channel, bus and stem to any output of your interface, and keep the click off the PA.
REDKEYS opens every output your interface reports. Each source picks its own: the Master, a bus, a stereo pair or a mono output. A two-output interface is already enough for, say, the Master in mono on output 1 for the PA and the click on output 2 for your headphones.
The buses
The Master page (tap the Master meter at the top) holds the 6 buses and the Master:
| Bus | Receives | Factory output |
|---|---|---|
| Instruments | The sum of the channels | Master |
| Drums | The DrumPads | Out 4; if it does not exist, Master |
| Drone | The Drone | Master |
| Click | The metronome | Out 3 (mono); if it does not exist, silent |
| Playback | The backing track and multitrack stems | Master |
| Guide | The guide | Out 3 (mono); if it does not exist, silent |
| Master | Everything sent to it | Out 1/2 |
Change an output
- Open the source: the bus or Master strip's button; for a channel, its detail, Audio tab; for a stem, the Playback page › Outputs.
- Tap Output and choose: Master, Instruments bus (for channels), a pair like Out 3/4 or a single output like Out 3 · mono.
- With a direct output, decide under Silence if this output disappears what happens if the output disappears: on, the source goes silent; off, it plays through the Master.
- A mono output sums left and right before it leaves, without clipping. On a path that ends in mono, Pan is off.
- Several sources on the same output add up.
- A stem with a direct output that disappears goes back to the bus it came from (the guide stays in your headphones).
See what uses each output
In the device panel (Settings › Devices › Audio interface › Open), the OUTPUTS IN USE section shows each interface output with the sources going to it. Free ones show the name the driver gives them.
